100 degrees part iii

part iii!  this weekend is going to be nuts. i'm kinda sad the hologram tupac surprise has been spoiled, but i'm excited/creeped out by the whole notion. my childhood dreams of seeing tupac in concert will be semi-realized and i'm actually pretty excited to see the whole gang reunited on stage.

100 degrees part ii

part ii of my coachella series. the schedule on saturday is PACKED! it's going to be hard to choose which ones to go to.

100 degrees pt i

despite the fact that i hate the heat, crowds, and loud noises i will be heading into the desert this weekend for the second week of coachella madness. i've been avidly checking the weather and folks, it's going to be 100 degrees this weekend. i hope the 3 different types of sunblock i bought this week in preparation will be enough!

so in honor, i decided to do a post about some of the artists i wanted to see.  but it turned out to be too massive, so i'll do it as a three parter.

anyone else going to coachella?  or even if you're not, feel free and chime in about some of your favorite acts!

grimes//oblivion

claire boucher's new video for her song, oblivion. so timely, since i just saw her in concert last weekend!  this has been a really tough and stressful week work-wise and this video put a smile on my face. i also really need that black and gold sequin jacket!

live fast die young

i'm pretty sure everyone's seen this video, but i still wanted to share it. i wasn't so sold on the song, but this video changed my mind. ms. arulpragasam is back to her old shenanigans and i love it. c'mon how badass is doing your nails on top of your car?

and just for fun.

ex-factor

an amazing cover of ms hill's ex-factor by quadron.  you know me and my cover obsession.

discovered through the ever amazing andrea inspired.

drake and the machine

i've been really enjoying the new drake album as of late. i've learned that he's an incredibly sensitive guy. and anyone that knows me, knows that i LOVE covers. this florence and the machine cover of take care has been filling my eardrums this week. enjoy and take care (i couldn't help myself).

oh - and has anyone seen these photoshopped album covers of drake? i was laughing my head off at the toilet one.

drive

i saw drive over the weekend. it was definitely not what i was expecting. it was really dark, quiet, and subtle.  the actions definitely spoke a lot more than the words (which were very few). it's taken a few days to digest, but  i think i'm on the side of liking it now. i really like ryan gosling's performance as "driver" (that's what imdb names his character, since we were never privy to it in the movie), it's very subtle and mysterious.  and it's not just because i have a huge crush on him (as evidenced here). i would also recommend listening to slates spoiler special afterward, it helped me to understand it a bit more.

warning - for those who don't like violence or extreme violence, i would highly recommend not seeing this movie.

i really enjoyed the title track from the movie, which really captuer the mood of the movie.

did any of you watch drive? what did you think?

thursday on a friday

new mixtape from the weeknd. just in time for friday!

21.7.11

nein deez

this 90's nostalgia is brought to you by the recently discovered 90's throwbacks. i was sort of having a shitty week and i listened to a bunch of songs on the way home and the traffic became somewhat bearable. i guess that's what singing at the top of your lungs in the car does to ya. enjoy!

girl power monday

damn, b! there's really not much else to say, the performance speaks for itself.

edit: i forgot to mention to start at the 3 min mark, the tribute before it is not worth watching.

bonus clip - rihanna & britney. not nearly as dynamic nor ass-kicking as beyonce, but entertaining.

kanye x coachella

i don't know 'bout anyone else, but i was kinda sad that i missed out on coachella this year. thanks to the magic of the internet here is kanye west live at coachella. listen, enjoy, and thank mr. donald glover.

and the blood from the heart of a pen

i think i've had this cover by tegan and sara on repeat for the last hour. i can't get enough! something about it makes me so damn happy, like bubblegum and lemonade on a hot summer day.

here's the original by steel train.

11.6.10

its the weekend!

this song by the drums makes me wanna go hop & skip all the way to the beach. it just makes the day feel like summer, no?

23.3.10

broken bells

i've been listening to the broken bells furiously as of late. the mall & misery is my favorite track.

16.3.10

daylight

not to rub it in, but the weather here in southern california has been ridiculously sunny. this song (and video) is the perfect way to spend outside drinking in the vitamin d. this video is way too cute.
